Even though Christmas is long over and the season of giving is all but gone from the minds of many, not every student is letting it leave that early. This Spring, some of the students at CAJSHS have decided that they are going to run a Goodwill clothing drive.

According to Ms. Plyler, drive coordinator, the students in her class have been doing the clothing drive for 5 years. Mrs. Plyer believes the students benefit in many ways by participating in the drive. “The students receive a feeling of giving back to the community, responsibility, and gain organizational and social skills, along with building team work,” she said.

You may be wondering where the donated clothes will go after the clothing drive has come to a close. They will be sent to the Goodwill Distribution Center in Falls Creek, according to Ms. Plyler. There are about 30 students involved in this student-driven project. This year’s goal is 7,000 pounds.

From March 1 through April 9 you can bring your donated clothing and shoes to your enrolling/period 1 class. The students involved are looking forward to and are eager to help out and extend the season of giving just a little bit longer. It is a great cause to give back to the community, help our students build teamwork, and make a difference to those in need.
