On Oct. 5, the band Twenty One Pilots released a new album called “Trench”. Ever since their last album, “Blurryface” in 2015, fans have been eagerly waiting for new music from the duo. The new album has a total of 14 songs, and the most popular ones being “Jumpsuit”, “Morph”, “Chlorine”, and “My Blood”.

From slower tracks like “Leave the City” to faster tracks like “Jumpsuit”, “Trench” is a very thoughtful, put together album with a lot of emotion, just as Twenty One Pilots previous albums. The music created by Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun cannot just be thrown into one category. They capture so many different genres and feelings throughout this album.

Some songs from this album are not as compelling as tracks from “Blurryface”. “Levitate”, for example, has a different sound from the others and has no chorus, making it hard to enjoy as much as the rest. Despite this, many tracks in this album make up for it with their emotional and focused lyrics, such as “Smithereens’’ and “My Blood”, for example. Each of these songs touches on being there for someone you care about, keeping them by your side, and protecting them at all costs.

These are subjects that writer Tyler Joseph touches on a lot in his songs. Twenty One Pilots always manages to play songs about serious, important subjects, while keeping them upbeat, fun, and catchy to listen to. This is why, overall, “Trench” is a great album. Album after album, Twenty One Pilots continues to prove their
dedication to their music and how important it is to them and those who listen to it.

“Trench” is able to touch on many different genres and topics while still keeping the majority of their tracks entertaining and catchy, all while keeping the lyrics meaningful and important.
