Clearfield Area Junior-Senior High School welcomes back ski club for the 2021-2022 school year! This is a great opportunity to try something new, travel, and have fun.

For the 2021-2022 school year there will be a ski club for any student in the high school who wishes to join, although students must remain academically eligible and not have any recent discipline referrals. While the meetings will be held every activity period, the skiing and snowboarding will be done on four different Saturdays (Jan. 8, Jan. 29, Feb. 5, and Feb. 26), at Holiday Valley Ski Resort in Ellicottville, NY.

Mrs. McGranor explains “Students will board a Fullington Motor Coach bus at the Clearfield Driving Park at 12:00 pm and return home around 12:30 am.  The club will arrive to Holiday Valley Ski Resort in Ellicottville, NY around 2:30 p.m. and will be permitted to ski until the resort closes at 10:00 p.m.  Students do not have to know how to ski/board, as lessons come free with each ticket.”

A rundown of the cost of each ski trip would be $60 for lift ticket/bus, $10 for rentals (if needed), and $6 for helmet (if needed). The ski club will also be offering two fundraising opportunities to students that will go towards their own personal cost. These fundraisers include Gardner’s meltaway bars at the end of October, and hoagie sales between Thanksgiving and Christmas. “Students have the opportunity to fundraise their entire ski cost,” says Mrs. McGranor.

“Why did you decide to bring this club back?” Mrs. McGranor responded “Mr. Bowman, Mr. Taylor, and I wanted to bring this club back to Clearfield because we all LOVE to ski and really want to give this opportunity to the students of CHS.  When I think back about my most cherished high school memories, they come from being a part of the ski club where I attended high school.  This is a great way for students to learn a hobby that they can love for a lifetime.”
