Students advance in MathCon competition

The results of the MathCon math competition were remarkable. MathCon is a nationwide math competition and over 45,000 students across the country compete in round 1. Clearfield turned in an impressive performance with Elliot Thorp earning a spot to the upcoming competition in Chicago. He scored in the 99th percentile of all 12th graders who took the test.

Three students also earned “Stand-by” status: Cody Taylor, grade 7 (top 98% of all 7th graders), Adam Miller, grade 9 (top 96% of all 9th graders) and Ian Hirsch, grade 10 (top 97% of all 10th graders).
