New and Exciting Things at Prom 2018

Morgan Demchak, Staff Writer

With prom just around the corner, students are making last-minute touches before the big day arrives on May 5. Jewelry, dress alterations, and suits are being finished up because the prom is arriving quickly. It is always a long-waited event for juniors and seniors as it is a night you will remember for the rest of your life.

Parker Hoyt has designed the winning ticket for the Crystal Gala theme this year, winning two free tickets to prom. Tickets are $25 for a single and $45 for a couple. His ticket features a crystal chandelier and elegant writing to push the theme. Tickets will be sold the week of April 23 in the cafeteria during B and C lunches.

Crystal Gala is an elegant prom with rose petals, chandeliers, draped curtains, and you can’t have a Crystal Gala without thousands of crystals.  This year’s Prom Committee along with junior class advisors Ms. Huff and Ms. McGranor, have worked since the beginning of the year every activity period to set up fundraisers, order decorations, and plan out the day.

Just as every year, there will be Promenade before the prom in the CAJSHS auditorium then prom will be held shortly after from 7 to 10:30 at the Florian Banquet Hall. Most years there is a small amount of food at prom but this year there will only be drinks as most students eat before or after attending prom. Drinks will still be provided throughout the night. Music this year will be by DJ Sonic Sounds of Clearfield.

One big difference for prom 2018 is the King and Queen. There will be ballots handed out to vote for the King and Queen instead of it being randomly picked. The prom court will be picked by teachers but then voted on by the student body.

With each year, new changes come to prom, but what really matters is the time you spend with your friends on one of the most important nights in your high school days.
