National Honor Society Hosts Blood Drive

Back on May 15, 2018, the National Honor Society hosted another Blood Drive for the American Red Cross right here at CAJSHS. In the fall, the National Honor Society had a Blood Drive here as well. Dr. Spaid, advisor to the high school NHS chapter, mentioned, “We didn’t have a great drive- only 21 pints.  We had a lot of deferrals – kids had high temperatures and allergies, etc.  For the year we collected 67 units.”

This reporter personally encourages all students who are able to donate blood to do so, most often people are discouraged due to the thought of blood loss, and sharp needles. It is not nearly as bad or scary as someone may depict. Through a little bit of pain, you are saving multiple lives.  There is always a high demand for blood donations, though it is getting increasingly harder to find viable and willing donors.
