Intro to Photoshop is an upcoming class for the second semester of the school year. It is a renamed version of “Digital Art and Design.”

What is the class based around? Instructor Mrs. Adams states, ”Intro to Photoshop is just what the name says. It is an introductory course into the world and workings of Photoshop. Throughout the course, students will learn how to use Photoshop to manipulate pre-existing photos as well as create original works of digital art. We work with photo editing, image alteration, text/fonts and collaging. Some projects include Altered Images to create ‘Newimals’, Photoshop Collages, Figures/Animals created through words, greeting cards, posters, t-shirt design and vinyl decals among others.”

“We usually have a decent amount of students who sign up for this course, although I do not have specific numbers to give you,” Mrs. Adams continues. Her personal opinion on the class is, “Intro to Photoshop is a great class! It is current with today’s trends and introduces students to the ever-growing graphic arts world. It is a course that works in small steps, so it makes the intimidating and complex Photoshop program easy to learn and use.”

Mrs. Adams notes: “Photoshop is one of my favorite programs to work with and there are so many possibilities! I love the projects we do and how creative students are when they are leaning digital art and design.”

How do you think the class will go? “This is technically not a brand new course, so based on past classes I am confident the semester will go well and students will easily learn a ton of new information and techniques that they can actually use in the real world,” she says, adding: “We started this course a few years ago because of how much digital technology is used in today’s world. There are endless applications for Photoshop in our everyday lives that anyone can utilize, as well as boundless career opportunities involving this media.”
