Enjoy singing and be a part of a community group!

The Clearfield Choral Society is a community-based performing group that is dedicated to bringing choral excellence to the Clearfield County Area.

The first community chorus group was originally named the Clearfield Community Chorus. This group existed for a number of years but was disabled in 1995. It was later rejuvenated by a group of eleven people in 2015 led by Mason Strouse (Clearfield alumni year 2012) and Catherine Mandell. These two brilliant people had the vision of reviving the artistic culture of Clearfield, not only through CAST (Clearfield Arts Studio Theatre), but also through the Clearfield Choral Society. Under the leadership of Mr. Strouse, Mrs. Mandell, and conductor Jacob Mandell (Clearfield alumni year 2013), the group will be celebrating its fifth anniversary in 2020.

This year, Jacob Mandell is looking forward to many things: “I see this group becoming the premier community ensemble in Clearfield County. Our possibilities are endless. The support of the community has been unmatched and greatly appreciated. I look forward to our future expansion, establishment of traditions, and reaching out to more community members to be a part of this group. I look forward to making music with the choir and bringing something to our communities that hopefully will touch their hearts and bring life to their group.”

Anyone above the age of 14 can become a member of the Clearfield Choral Society. Currently the choir has 38 members with ages ranging from 16 to 82.

The spring concert, “Requiem for the Living,” will be performed on Sunday, May 19, at 3:30 p.m. at the Clearfield Presbyterian Church.
