Clearfield’s Benjamin Luzier, grade 12, competed at the 2020 cross country state championships in Hershey on Nov. 7., running a 5k (3.1 miles). He came in fourth at the District 9 Championships on Oct. 31, which is what earned him a spot in the states race.

Luzier joined cross country his junior year and has been working very hard ever since, always striving to improve his running ability.

Hershey’s 5k course was overall uphill and Nov. 7 was significantly warmer than other days of that month.

Luzier wrapped up his senior season of cross country with a district medal and the achievement of making it to a states race. He plans on running in college and will continue to stay passionate towards running.

Cross Country Coach Eric Yingling stated: “Ben put in a ton of work in the offseason and it showed immediately during the regular season. He never lost sight of his goal of making it to the state meet and was focused on improving himself at every practice and every meet. Very proud of him.”
