The Girls Bison Basketball team ended the 2021-2022 season with a record of 10-12 after getting new head coach, Missy Helsel. I spoke with Junior, Cayleigh Walker, about the upcoming basketball season.

Q: Are you excited for the basketball season?

I am extremely excited for the basketball season. We have a great group of girls this year and hope to do very well through the whole season.

Q: What position do you play?

I play post and I have always played there because I’m taller.

Q: Who’s your biggest rivalry?

One of our biggest rivalries must be St. Mary’s because they are in our district. Another one of my biggest rivals is DCC because when we play them it’s always a close game and super fun to play in.

Q: What are your thoughts on the upcoming season?

I am looking forward to the upcoming season. We play well as a team and we are all amazing friends so we can connect very well on the court. I am excited to see how the team can do and how we can improve throughout the season

Q: How is this year’s team after losing the seniors?

We only lost two seniors last year which was good for us. The seniors provided a lot for our team last year and we definitely will miss them this year. However, we have a really good group of girls working to fill those positions so we can pick up right where we left off last season.

Q: Who are the starting five?

Riley Ryen – Senior

Alayna Winters – Junior

Cayleigh Walker – Junior

Hannah Glunt – Sophomore

Mia Helsel – Freshman
