Jacob Millinder, a senior that attends our school, has stepped up outside of school and became a volunteer firefighter. He is volunteers at the BJW Volunteer Fire Company of Woodland, Pennsylvania where has now volunteered for the past year and a half. I interviewed him and asked him many questions including why he decided to become a firefighter. Jacob States, “I wanted to be a firefighter ever since I was little. I grew up around it with my dad and grandfather both being firefighters and I always wanted to help the community. When I turned 16 I decided to join the fire company”. He was also asked what it is like to be a firefighter and Jacob replied, “You never know what is going to happen because you could have any type of call whether it be a motor vehicle accident, structure fire, or even a med assist”.  Jacob has been on approximately 120 calls in the time he has been with the fire company. Jacob enjoys being part of the community and helping throughout it, so he became part of the fire company. If you ever want to help or be a bigger part of the community becoming a volunteer at your local fire company is always an option.
