The Menu for the party

Chuck Gardner, Staff Writer

On October 3, 2017 the German Honor Society hosted an Oktoberfest celebration in Mrs. Simpson’s class in honor of Crown Prince Ludwig, later to become King Ludwig I marrying Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen on October 12, 1810.

The festivities in Munich, Germany, include much beer or Bier (in German) drinking, which clearly was not on the menu during this party. Some traditional German foods were made and brought in by the students. For example, this writer made Sauerbraten which is basically a German pot roast. Some other foods included bratwurst, spätzle, and homemade ginger snaps. Editor’s note: this party was very lively and enjoyable, as well as fascinating to experience a different culture’s foods.
