How much effort do you put into Valentine’s Day? As we get older, it seems as if Valentine’s Day is not often celebrated with large gifts and attention. However, it does receive more notice than we know. If you are interested in the amount of care given on February 14th of each year, the following data presents statistics on the money spent, how many people thoroughly participate in the holiday, what is bought, and more!

♥ About eight of every ten people planning to celebrate this holiday give candy.

♥ 40% of people plan on greeting others with cards on Valentine’s Day.

♥ 37% of people give flowers to others.

♥ 31% of couples plan for an evening out.

♥ 22% of people give jewelry to their significant other.

♥ About six million couples are likely to get engaged on Valentine’s Day.

♥ About 53% of people plan to celebrate this holiday.

♥ A total of $23.9 billion dollars is spent on Valentine’s Day on gifts for partners, pets, friends, family, and more.

♥ On average, about 67.7% of men purchase gifts; this leaves 32.3% of men not purchasing anything.

All in all, this holiday receives much more love than expected. Although some people do not celebrate it on a large scale, there are those who do, and the upwards spending trend is not looking like it is going to slow down anytime soon.
