Q: How long have you been Benny the Bison and why?

A: I have been Benny the Bison since 2019. I got to be Benny because of my sixth-grade teacher, Mrs. Peacock. I did a split in front of her and then I got accepted. Being the mascot has been a big dream of mine ever since I was a little kid, so being able to be the mascot is amazing.

Q: What’s your favorite sport to be Benny at?

A: My favorite sport to be Benny at is most definitely football. Not only are the games amazing, but the dinners and drives with the cheerleaders are so much fun. I also really enjoy watching the home and visitor’s band-halftime show.

Q: What is the best part of being our mascot?

A: The best part about being the mascot would have to be seeing how excited people get and seeing people smile. I know I’m doing a good job when people smile.

Q: What is the biggest struggle in the Benny suit?

A: The biggest struggle in the Benny suit is most definitely the vision and hearing situation. I cannot hear that well and I only have a small tear-shaped hole that I can see out of. It also gets extremely hot.

Q: What is your most memorable moment so far?

A: My most memorable moment as Benny would probably have to be getting my head kicked off at a football game.

Q: How does Benny connect to the fans?

A: Benny connects with the fans by getting pictures with them and simply giving them high-fives. I would like to be more interactive with the fans and crowds next football season.

Q: What’s your favorite way to pump up the crowd?

A: My favorite way to pump up the crowd is by listening to music. Music is always the best way to go.

Q: What do you do outside if being Benny?

A: Outside of Benny, I play the soprano and alto saxophone, along with participating in the choir. For fun, I collect music boxes and listen to music. Music is a big part of my life. I also really enjoy writing; I am in the process of publishing a children’s book.
