Spring is approaching, which means the 2023 Tennis season is upon us. The team has been preparing and is ready for the new season. I got to speak with Junior Ethan Evilsizor about the upcoming season.

Q: How do you feel about the upcoming season?

A: I feel pretty confident going into the season. There are a few teams that will match up pretty tough against us, but I believe overall we will come out with a good record by the end of the year.

Q: What changes will need to be made after losing last year’s seniors?

A: Mason Marshall and I will have to step up and be the leaders of the team. For the most part we were last year, but we will both move up a few spots. The new kids are learning, but they will also have to play a role as we only have nine players.

Q: Who are the returning letterwinners?

A: Myself, Mason Marshall, Ben Wriglesworth, Isaac Michael, and Dylan Greslick.

Q: What changes have been made in the coaching staff for the season?

A: Coach Way was the former coach. He gave up the position since his son graduated, and Coach Spence took over.

Q: What are the goals for the team this season?

A: Our goals for this season are to try our best to succeed. With the coach switch, we are learning new things and techniques and we are looking forward to putting them together in matches. We hope to have a winning season.

Q: What kind of training do you guys do?

A: We practice for an hour, four days a week.

Q: Who is your biggest rival?

A: Hollidaysburg is our biggest rival because they play all year round.
