This year the Clearfield Bison Bocce team had an amazing season, practicing twice a week and having a standout Regional appearance with a fantastic sendoff. I got to meet with the Clearfield Bisons very own Lee Ogden and discuss the team’s season and what it’s like for him to be of such a great group of people. When asked, “What have you learned about teamwork while being on the Bocce team?” Lee responded, “Teamwork is all about working together. You can’t play by yourself, you have to work together to make a good team.” Lee also said that “Cody Taylor, my teammate, helped me learn more about the game.” Lee claimed that the best piece of advice he got from his coaches was to “have fun playing the game and try your best.” His favorite memory from this season was spending time with the team on the bus after games. Lee believes that his biggest challenge this season was, “going to play the other teams on their courts because every court is different, like where the dips are and the bumps in the floor may be.” In Lee’s coming high school years as a junior and senior he hopes to continue to play bocce and have a great time playing it. Lee’s final thoughts were, “I want to show how fun the game is, and it is competitive to play against the other teams. I hope to encourage students who are interested to talk to the coaches about joining the team for next year.” If this applies to you, see coach Spila and coach Komonczi for more information.
