For over 30 years, Mr. Mandell has been the director of our Clearfield High School Band. This school year will be his final one as he will be retiring after this year. I spoke to some of our CHS seniors about their feelings on his retirement.

Peyton Reese: “Mr. Mandell is an amazing teacher and I’m sad to see him go. He was one of my biggest motivators at school. He was a bright presence in the building, and I will really miss him. The person taking over his position will have big shoes to fill.”

Scarlett Singleton: “Mr. Mandell is one of the most caring teachers I have ever had. He has inspired all his students to do great things. He will be missed at CHS.”

Mason Marshall: “Mr. Mandell is one of my favorite teachers I’ve had all of high school. His retirement is not slaying at all. I’m sad about his retirement, but happy that he’s doing it when all of us are graduating, too. We also had a really good year of band, so I am glad he gets to go out with a bang.”

Ava Lynch: “Mr. Mandell’s retirement is very bittersweet for me. He’s been doing this for a long time, and it is his time. I am very happy and excited to see what’s to come for him. I am glad he can officially move on. He has for sure been one of the most loved teachers in this building.

All of Mr. Mandell’s students had only good things to say about him. Mr. Mandell is one of the most influential teachers in this building and he has inspired many students. Make sure if you see Mr. Mandell in the halls, you thank him for his many years of commitment to our school, his students, and the band. Congratulations and good luck, Mr. Mandell!
