On Friday, October 27th, Clearfield high school held its 2023 Senior Night pep rally. In the days leading up to the event, the school held a spirit week where students could dress according to the themes dedicated to each day. Monday was “Country vs Country Club”, where students were to dress up either country-themed or country club-themed. Tuesday was “Decades Day”, where students would dress up in styles from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, or 2000’s. Wednesday was “College Day” where students could wear college sweaters. Thursday was “Bikers vs Surfers day”, where students either dress like a surfer or a biker. Friday, the day of the pep rally, was “Barbie & Ken day” where students wore as much pink as possible. According to most students, spirit week provided a fun way for students to be creative and participate in the school event.
When the pep rally finally happened, the first event that took place had brought out all the seniors from each sport starting with the senior cheerleaders, the marching band, cross country, girls tennis, boys golf, volleyball, girls soccer, boys soccer, then finally the football team led by the senior players. The first game was between the teachers and students where each team had to hold hands and pass a hula hoop down the line, and whoever went down and back first won. The students won that.
The next event that took place was switching up the sports: cheerleaders tried to throw footballs through a hula hoop from far away while the football players cheered for the cheerleaders. Hungry Hippos was next, where two seniors from each sport worked together to collect as many balls as possible while on scooters with small baskets. Next 5 seniors Nolyn Rockmore, Will Domico, Isaac Putt, Cayden Bell, and Carter Chamberlain gave speeches.
After that the cheerleaders went around to each grade group to see who was the most fired up; each grade had to yell “FIRE UP!” as loud as they could and be the loudest in order to win. As usual, the seniors won. Then all the seniors joined in the singing of the school’s Alma Mater.
For the last event of the pep rally, select football players got to pie Rylee Charles, Olivia Rowles, Anna Ryan, Anna Twig, and Renee Barras a punishment for talking during the day. Overall, the Clearfield Senior Night pep rally did a great job of recognizing and showing appreciation to the seniors. To wrap it all up, the battling Bison ended the night with a 44 to 33 win against the Chestnut Ridge Lions.
