At the beginning of the year comes Fashion Week in all the fashion capitals of the world. Fashion week has brought many trends over the years, and here are just a few fashion predictions that have been on people’s minds, and a few on the runway.
In Coco Chinelo’s video “2024 FASHION TREND PREDICTIONS,” she mentions button-downs underneath off-the-shoulder sweaters, baggy bottoms paired with heels, super distressed jeans with colorful tights or leggings underneath, and thin, detachable hoods. Also, some sort of athletic wear like athletic shoes, or she mentions boxing shorts for a sportier street style outfit or style.
Ava Jane’s video “2024 Fashion Predictions” states colored/ patterned tights (or stockings) and fur, which both were becoming large trends in late 2023, will stay around for this year also. She then lists utility belts/ practical belts, oversized sleeves, and maximalized accessories (another trend that had started fairly late in 2023). Gloves were also mentioned and there really is no limit to what type of gloves you choose to wear or style.
In a popular fashion Youtuber named ModernGurlz’s video “2024 fashion trends and predictions,” they list quite a few trends and a few predictions, and reasonings toward why they might pop up or come back into mainstream fashion. Loads of Victorian era clothes and inspirations like peplums, Victorian boots, and renaissance motifs (for example velvet, bejeweled tones, detailed embroidery, ornamental designs, and maximalist jewelry). Also, with the 20-year (now around 10-year) fashion trend theory, gingham, military jackets, disco pants, (cat) animal print, flannels, and puffy, almost pirate-like, long sleeve blouses.
These are all just predictions; fashion is one of those things that change fast and take drastic turns. Fashion for one person may not be considered fashion to another, but nonetheless it is a way of creativity and great way of expressing yourself. It is always better to dress for yourself and your own personal taste than to dress for trends. Who knows, you may find something that perfectly fits your style and represents you!
