As Homecoming season comes to an end, it is time to look at how the students at Clearfield Jr-Sr High School celebrated their Spirit Week and Pep Rally. This week was full of fun activities, daily themes, and an anticipated action-packed pep rally.
Let us start at the beginning of the week. Monday’s theme was Neon versus Camo. While the theme was meant to be pick one or the other, kids got creative and did both. There was definitely more camo around than there was neon. Because it was the beginning of the week, a lot of kids forgot it was spirit week, but the Student Council social media page, it helped remind those who may have forgotten.
Next, let’s talk about Tuesday’s. Tuesday was twin day theme. Many kids were excited for this day because they could dress up and match with their friends. Some kids went with matching t-shirts, but some decided to dress up as someone. Some decided to do a big group of twins rather than just two people as most did. This day showed a lot of creativity and excitement from students as the pep rally, football game, and dance got closer.
In the middle of the week, Wednesday was Wild West versus West Coast. This day was fun because there were many options you could do for both themes. Wild West could have been a cowboy or patriotic, and West Coast could have been a beach summer look or a skater outfit.
Next, Thursday was Color Wars and the Homecoming Pep Rally. For Color Wars, Seniors wore red, Juniors wore black, Sophomores wore white, and Freshmen wore gray. The pep rally showed all these colors because students are sectioned by grade. During the rally, the Homecoming Court was introduced and played a game which was escort versus escort. This game was played on a tricycle, where members of the court rode through cones down to an awaiting cheerleader. The cheerleader would give the court member three beanbags to toss into a small basket. At the beginning, the member had to make all three beanbags, but towards the end of the game, members only had to get one in. They would then get back on the tricycle and head back down through the cones. The winner of each round was then put into groups to compete, and all of those who lost sat back and watched. Whenever the teams were divided, a surprise guest, Nicholas Bailor, was called to join one of the teams. The game ended whenever Zoie Sidorick crossed the finish line, which gave her team the victory.
The last event of the pep rally was the Crowning of the King. Each male court member stood and picked out of a basket with scrolls in it. All of the scrolls were blank except for the one which said “King.” As the members picked their scrolls the crowds anticipation grew. Ty Aveni stepped forward with his scroll and was crowned Homecoming King, receiving a Gatorade and cookies. The pep rally came to a close after the football players gave their thanks to the cheerleaders, band, and students for all their support and asking for the students to all attend Friday’s Homecoming football game.
Finally, we get to Friday. Friday was Adam Sandler Day. Students came dressed up in baggy clothes, jerseys, and pajamas. This day was very anticipated and requested by many students to the Student Council. The school day was later followed by Gabby Henry being crowned as Homecoming Queen at the winning game, and the Homecoming Dance on Saturday.
