On September 6, 2018, three letter winners from the Clearfield girl’s golf team participated in the 30th annual Coudersport Girls Golf Invitational. Each year, Coudersport hosts an invitational for schools around the area. There were 39 golfers altogether from eight different schools. This year, a Clearfield golfer placed in the 9-hole match, individual.

The tournament was postponed due to a big thunderstorm; Josie Grice and Christina McGinnis had one hole to finish. The director of the event suggested to wait out the storm so most of the golfers could finish. Eventually, the storm passed and the golfers were sent back out to their holes.

Christina shot a 53 and tied a girl from State College, Kaitlyn Owen. Owens won on  the 1st hole of a sudden death playoff. Christina then brought home a second place medal after a well-played match. The other two players from Clearfield were Josie Grice, who scored a 56, and Kate Barnes, who shot a 63.

Christina says that this invitational can prepare the girls golf team for districts. “Coudersport allowed us to compete with the teams that we do not get to play with until districts.”
