New teachers join CAJSHS

This year at CAJSHS, we have welcomed three new teachers to our staff. They have answered a few questions for us at The Stampede so we can share some information about them with our readers.

Ms. Wilcox

Ms. Wilcox

Question 1: When did you know that you wanted to become a teacher?

A: “I have wanted to become a teacher since I was in kindergarten. In was in high school that I discovered my passion for special education and focused on that.”

Question 2: If you did not already live here, what made you choose Clearfield?

A: “I am originally from DuBois and I decided I wanted to stay close to home. Clearfield has a similar small town community mentality that I grew up in and I wanted to be a part of it, now in a professional sense.”

Question 3: What subject(s) do you teach?

A: “I co-teach 7th grade Science, Pre-algebra and English.”

Question 4: Where did you attend high school and college?

A: “I went to DuBois Area High School and Clarion University.”

Question 5: How long have you been teaching?

A:  “This is my first year of teaching.”

Question 6:  What are you enjoying about Clearfield most so far?

A: “I really enjoy the staff here at Clearfield. Everyone has been very welcoming and extremely helpful. I am very thankful for how kind everyone has been in answering all my questions.”

Question 7: How is this different from other jobs you’ve had?

A: “I used to work in fast food making donuts while I was getting my degree.  I enjoyed my part-time job while I was younger but was ready to take the next step. It’s very rewarding to have a job in the field that I went to school for. I am so thankful to be using my degree to do what I love.”

Question 8: What else would you like to share with our readers?

A: “I am excited to be a Bison and get to know the students and staff better. Lastly, contrary to many student’s beliefs, I am not Mrs. Appleton, no matter how much we look like each other.”

Question 1: When did you know that you wanted to become a teacher?

A: “In high school, I joined the Tutoring Club for children at the Elementary School. I really enjoyed helping the children learn. This led me to pursing teaching.”

Question 2: If you did not already live here, what made you choose Clearfield?

A: “My husband and I wanted to move back to the Clearfield Area to be closer to our families. Prior to moving to Clearfield, we lived in South Carolina for eight years.”

Question 3: What subject(s) do you teach?

A: “I teach English.”

Question 4: Where did you attend high school and college?

A: “I graduated from Portage Area High school and Lock Haven University.”

Question 5: How long have you been teaching?

A: “I have been teaching for 13 years.”

Question 6:  What are you enjoying about Clearfield most so far?

A: “I enjoy the beautiful downtown and river walk scenery. My family and I enjoy walking downtown and watching movies at the Ritz Theater.”

Question 7: How is this different from other jobs you’ve had?

A: “This is my first teaching job in a high school.”

Question 8: What else would you like to share with our readers?

A: “My husband is Mr. Scaife and we have two wonderful children, Trotman and Annalee.”

Question 1: When did you know that you wanted to become a teacher?

A: “I was a sophomore in college when I decided to switch my major from Pre-Med to Art Education! It was a crazy switch but I have never regretted it! Pursue what you love, even if it seems crazy!”

Question 2: If you did not already live here, what made you choose Clearfield?

A: “I was subbing at three different schools, Clearfield included, when I found out about this position. Art jobs are few and far between so I was so excited to find a job so close to where I live!”

Question 3: What subject(s) do you teach?

A: “I teach art (the best subject ever!!) but more specifically, Ceramics 1 & 2, Art Design, Intro to Photography and Crafts.”

Question 4: Where did you attend high school and college?

A: “I went to Curwensville High School and Liberty University for college.”

Question 5: How long have you been teaching?

A: “I subbed last year, but this is my first full year of teaching!”

Question 6:  What are you enjoying about Clearfield most so far?

A: “I enjoy the variety of classes that I teach and the interactions that I have had with my students.”

Question 7: How is this different from other jobs you’ve had?

A: “This job is different because I have my own room and space. But most importantly, I get to teach a subject I love and have a passion for!”

Question 8: What else would you like to share with our readers?

A: “I love teaching and helping students with projects. I want the readers to know that I truly care for my students and hope they enjoy coming to art class everyday!”
