Each year, a handful of students give their study halls and free periods to helping our wonderful staff in the school library. This year, a total of 18 students are devoting their time to this great program.

These volunteers do many different things such as helping to put away books, working at the desk, cleaning, helping with errands and projects, and even decorating for the holidays.

Students are able to volunteer at the start of each semester. As long as you can maintain passing grades, and have a free study hall, then you would be able to join this program. Students who sign up for this must sign a contract and are given expectations and rules that they must follow. It could be a great learning experience that would help you prepare for the future.

The students who volunteer are given a significant amount of work that would give them experience in time management, people skills, and quick and friendly service.

If you are not able to get a job, but would like the experience of one, this program could be great for you. Mrs. Alice Brady states, “Working in the library offers students a chance to build their skills and gain confidence in a setting where they are serving their school.” Students are able to have fun while also learning valuable skills. This is a great way to learn and to help out your school all at once.

If you have a free study hall, then you should look into volunteering at our school’s library. One volunteer, Madison Oswalt, states, “Helping out at the library is a great learning experience and helps me understand what library workers do. I love that I’ve had the opportunity to do so.” Volunteers are able to help the librarians out in many different ways, such as checking books in and out, organizing, and keeping the library clean.
