In this article, I cover the very essence of personal lyrics that use symbols to convey a specific, heavy message. Oftentimes related to pain, these messages are gruesome and sometime so vigorous that they need a few listens. Luckily, each of the songs I’ve covered I consider myself familiar. They are written and displayed by some of my favorite music groups including Tool, Slipknot, and Disturbed.
