Each year, the CHS Music Department goes on a trip somewhere in the United States to show their talents in performing music. Last year the music department went to Washington D.C. and Six Flags Amusement Park, and two years ago they went to Disney World. This year, both the CHS Bison Band and Choir have already started planning and fundraising for their exciting trip to Indianapolis for the IPL500 parade from May 24-26, 2019.

Mr. Mandell states, “The Clearfield Bison Band will march in the IPL500 parade on Saturday, May 25, in downtown Indianapolis, IN.  The High School Choir will perform the next day at King’s Island Amusement Park in Mason, OH. In addition to the amusement park, the students will be staying at the Great Wolf Lodge where they will enjoy the indoor water park.”

The cost of the trip is around $60,000.00, and the band and choir have started fundraising by selling their famous Bison Band Hoagies, along with money from the 12 Days of Christmas fundraiser to help with the costs of transportation.

The marching band will perform some of their parade tunes from the previous marching season, and the choir will perform a few pieces from their spring concert.

Mr. Mandell also adds that this is one of he and Mr. Rothrock’s favorite trips to take the music department on. He says that it is a great place to perform with first rate accommodations and the parade is even televised.
