The boys’ soccer team has their senior night
November 4, 2019
Soccer senior night was on Tuesday, October 8, at 6 p.m. against Philipsburg. The boys team won the game with a score of 2-0. Nick Ryan and senior Andrew Lopez scored the two goals winning the game. The seniors on the team are Hugh Brickley, Nathan Barr, Hayden Williams, Andrew Lopez, Trevor Hoffman and Colton Suhoney. Their coach Todd Trinidad hopes “they find further education or a job they love. I hope they are successful in whatever they decide they want in life.”
During senior night, the seniors’ names are announced over the loudspeaker while reading a short bio about them. They walk across the field with their parents as everyone lines the field. The cheerleaders also come and cheer on the team, which has been happening for the past three years.
The seniors have led the team to win the Mountain League title for the first time. They finished with a record of 14-2 which was their personal best in the eight years their coach had been coaching. “The seniors are incredible soccer players, but most importantly, they are good young men that will be successful in whatever they put their minds to,” said their coach.
Coach Trinidad said he had graduated from Philipsburg, so it was great to win against them on senior night and with his two daughters cheering them on. He also said his favorite memories was coming to practice after a hard day and talking to the boys, which he will miss. The seniors are great leaders and quality soccer players, they will be missed, coach said.
