The county band concert will be coming up soon. It will be held at the DuBois Area Middle School on Friday, Nov. 22, and Saturday, Nov. 23.

County band is an annual festival that band students have the opportunity to go to. At the festival, they perform songs with a guest conductor, who is different each year. This year, the guest conductors will be Dr. Scott DiTuillo and Mr. Ed Schwer. Dr. DiTuillo is from AC Valley School District’s senior high while Mr. Schwer is retired from St. Mary’s Area School District’s junior high.

Students from all over our area come to perform at this event. The participating schools include Clearfield, Curwensville, DuBois, Glendale, Harmony, Moshannon Valley, Philipsburg-Osceola, and West Branch.

For many of the students, the festival is a great learning experience. Mr. Mandell, who is the band director for the senior high, says, “It gives the students an opportunity to learn from and experience a guest conductor and make music with some of the better student musicians in the county.”

If you wish to come support the students from your school, the public concert will be held on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 11:00 a.m. at the DuBois Area Middle School.
