The Holiday Parade is just around the corner
December 6, 2019
The Clearfield Holiday Parade is on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 3:00 p.m. Don Herres, from the YMCA, and Loretta Wagner, from CRC are responsible for the event. The parade will start on Third Street and travel down to Cherry Street. Then it will turn onto Second Street and end up at the courthouse and YMCA. The parade will not last long so, Leslie Stott, the borough manager, says. “It is worth coming out in the cold to see.”
The parade will include Santa and Mrs. Clause on a fire truck as well as the Clearfield High School Band playing their holiday music to entertain the viewers. Alongside them, will be many other floats and characters from businesses around the area.
The purpose of this parade is to celebrate the holidays and bring Santa into Town. The YMCA, this year, has teamed up with the CRC to have the parade and the tree lighting ceremony together.
The CRC wants everyone to know the County Commissioners has been very gracious to allow the Community Tree to be placed at the courthouse square. Lanager’s Landscaping and Trees has been kind to donate the tree and bring it downtown. The CRC, with the assistance of the fire department, decorates the tree with the ornaments from the community. The High School Band and Community Choir also provide holiday music while the Salvation Army and Trinity Methodist Church provide festive refreshments. Mrs. Stott says this was a tradition from her childhood that they were able to bring back to the community and a nice way of bringing everyone together with Christmas spirit.
