Donations needed for Salvation Army food drive

Isabelle M. Passmore, Staff Writer

As almost all students know, we have been collecting goods every holiday season for the Clearfield Salvation Army food pantry to support families in need. We collect canned and packaged food items and the Salvation Army distributes them to over 300 families.

For the past eight years students have reached out and helped our local community. This year’s drive has begun and will continue until Dec. 13.

The Salvation Army would like canned or boxed items that can make a quick meal, such as pasta and noodles, soup, peanut butter and jelly, pancake mixes and syrup, and chili. They also need tea, hot chocolate mixes, and condiments, including ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise. Items that are NOT needed are canned veggies, fruit, rice, and cake mixes.

The drive is coordinated through the English Department and anyone in grades seven through 12 can donate items through their English class. The winning class period will receive a pizza party.  Please remember to be generous to these families in need, they might not have everything you and your family have.
