Clearfield Swim Team starts off the season

The Clearfield swim team started its season off with its first meet on December 10 in Brookville. Their head coach is Jackie Morrison, who has been coaching the team for many years. The seniors this year are Elise Dufour, Trevor Franek, Noah Jordan, Madison Kipp, Justin Maines, Parker Marshall, Luke Mikesell, Raegan Mikesell, Emily Shipley, Doyle Musselman, and Brett Zattoni. The swim team’s girl team captains are Raegan Mikesell and Karli Bietz. The team’s boy captains are Parker Marshall and Luke Mikesell.

Team captain Karli Bietz says, “Both girls’ and boys’ teams have started off the season really good. I think we work together well, and I’m excited to see what happens the rest of the season.”

The Bison swim team won by many points at its first meet to start off the season. The Clearfield girls team won with a score of 124-52 while the boys won with a score of 128-48. The team’s second meet was on December 14, 2019 at Bucknell University. The girls came in ninth and the boys came in third. The next meet was also away on December 17, 2019 in Tyrone. The girls won with a score of 100-70 and the boys won with a score of 125-32. Finally, the team’s last meet of December was on the 20th in Huntingdon. The girls had a score of 111-59 while the boys had a score of 117-52.

Overall, this season for the swim team will be very exciting with many new members that joined for the first time as well as last year’s great swimmers. The swim team also has many more meets and events coming up that anyone can attend.
