Clearfield takes on Bradford at Districts 2019-2020
April 2, 2020
On February 27, 2020 the Clearfield varsity boys’ basketball team played their district game. The opponent of the game was Bradford High School and the game was held at Clarion University. The Clearfield Bison Boys Basketball team was victorious with a score of 50-41.
To prepare for districts the varsity players had three scrimmages versus other teams in the playoffs and we set up a game plan. The players did a great job in practice of implementing the game plan and were able to show it in the district championship game.
Coach Glunt said: “To be honest, I wasn’t sure what to expect in the game. We hadn’t played them in the regular season, and we were playing on a college court, which is bigger than a high school court.”
The goals of the game were to try and contain their best player and limit his opportunities to score. They also wanted to take care of the ball, get good shots and run in transition.
Varsity basketball player Matt Pallo said: “Coming into the game we were prepared for whatever they threw at us. I knew my guys would lockdown and our offense would run smooth if we got the ball to Cade and the post. With getting the ball and the post to Cade it opens up our shooters to be more versatile around the hemisphere.”
On Friday March 6, 2020, the boys’ basketball team advanced to the first round of the state playoffs at St. Mary’s playing against Belle Vernon. The final score of the game was 60-65 bringing their season to an end.
