The boys’ soccer team had their senior night on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 6 p.m. on the soccer turf at the Clearfield Area Junior-Senior High School. The Bison played against Tyrone and won with the score of 3-0. The senior athletes are Graeson Graves, a goalkeeper, William Haile, a midfielder, Crae Ruiz, a striker that scored all 3 goals for the night, Nicholas Ryan, a center midfielder, Jason Stanko, a midfielder, Seth Visnofsky, a midfielder, and Luke Winters, a striker who had 3 assists against Tyrone.

The Clearfield Area Junior-Senior High School boys’ soccer team holds senior night to recognize the achievements and dedication of their seniors. They also recognize the seniors of the opposing team and give them a small gift.

“I’m so proud and happy for our seniors and yet sad to know their season will soon be over. They will never put on a Clearfield soccer jersey again and then experience joy and gratitude for being part of their journey and wish them luck in the future,” said Coach Trinidad.

One tradition for senior night is each senior starts the game regardless if they are a regular starter in the game. Each senior player completes a bio that consists of future plans, advice to underclassmen, message to your parents/guardians, their soccer number, position, number of years they have played soccer, and a list of clubs, hobbies, sports, or any interests. This is read over the loudspeaker system as they walk across the field with their parents. Each mother is presented a flower from the coach and each senior gets a gift from the coaches.

The soccer team usually does senior night the second to the last game of the year but due to COVID-19, they made it earlier in the season so they could honor the seniors just in case the sports season is stopped due to the spreading of COVID-19. “We have asked the varsity cheerleaders to participate in past years, but due to such short notice, this was not able to happen this year. This was a personal disappointment due to the fact that two of my daughters are on the varsity cheer team and it is so nice to have them cheering on my team,” explained Coach Trinidad.
