The Lady Bison Varsity Soccer Team advanced into the 2021 district championship game on November 4, competing against their rival team, Karns City. The Lady Bison ended the game in overtime with a losing score of 2-3.

Coach Todd Winters clarifies that although his team lost, he is still happy with their performance. He says “Overall, I was happy with the team’s performance. Possession wise the girls did a good job; we just have to get better at finishing. If you take away one or two bad passes at key moments the outcome of the game swings in our favor. It is crazy to think that an eighty-minute game comes down to two key possessions.” Coach Winters explains that he was disappointed in the outcome. “The girls put a lot of work in this season and the coaching staff was looking for more progression into the state playoffs,” says Coach Winters.

The Lady Bison remained undefeated prior to this game, making their record 19-0. The previous year the Lady Bison defeated the Lady Gremlins 5-4, which gave them hope for another win. Coach Winters states “As a coaching staff, going into the game we expected a hard game, but we expected to defend our district title.” Coach Winters also goes on to say “We have already modified next year’s schedule to add more competition and prepare for the district championship and state playoffs. We currently have a great group of athletes, and we have high expectations for them.”
