On Monday, October 16, the CAJSHS chapter of the National Honor Society hosted its yearly blood drive for the American Red Cross. Several students along with this reporter went and donated blood throughout the school day. This blood drive is a very good event considering the high demand for plasma and blood in the medical field right now.

Author’s note: donating blood can be very intimidating for some people due to many fears such as needles, or seeing one’s own blood, but as this writer experienced recently it was not quite as bad as someone might think. In the long run it is gratifying to know that you may very well have saved someone’s life in some way, shape, or form.

Dr. Spaid, Honor Society advisor, recently shared the results of the blood drive, and she stated, “We had 55 people present to donate and got 38 pints of blood.  We were a couple short, but it was a good drive and the Red Cross was pleased.”
