2022 Bison Duals meet was one to remember

This year’s Clearfield Bison Duals Meet was held on January 22 and it was an interesting one to say the least. In round one of the Duals Meet the Clearfield Bison topped Port Allegany 52-17 with Oliver Billotte, Nolan Barr, Mark McGonigal, Evan Davis, and Carter Chamberlain all getting pins and Karson Kline and Brady Collins coming up with tech falls.

Later that morning, the Bison crushed Wilkes-Barre Area High School with a 71-0 score. Each wrestler came up with a win with Luke Freeland, Karson Kline, Carter Chamberlain, Hayden Kovalick, and Oliver Billotte all getting pins. Brady Collins and Nolan Barr won with tech falls and Xavier Lutz, Evan Davis, Adam Rougeux, and Will Domico all winning to forfeits. Wrestlers who won through major decision were Mark McGonigal and Ty Aveni. This shut-out performance was the first ever recorded in Head Coach Jeff Aveni’s coaching history.

Clearfield picked up yet another victory over Canton with a final score of 44-23. Karson Kline, Evan Davis, Hayden Kovalick, Oliver Billotte, Adam Rougeux, Santana Maines, Brady Collins, and Mark McGonigal all pulled through with wins. Another historic event occurring for the Bison that night was Mark McGonigal earning his 100th win of his career.

The championship semifinals went well with Clearfield getting a win over Montoursville 43-21. Hayden Kovalick, Xavier Lutz, Brady Collins, Ty Aveni, Luke Freeland, and Karson Kline all came up with wins through pins. Oliver Billotte got a major decision win and Carter Chamberlain got a decision win.

The championship round got Clearfield the overall tournament victory with a 39-27 win over Benton. The Bison took seven of 13 bouts while securing bonus points in six. Carter Chamberlain, Oliver Billotte, Evan Davis, Brady Collins, Luke Freeland, and Karson Kline all earned big win pins and Hayden Kovalick earned a decision win.
