CHS Key Club is hard at work for the months of November and December collecting gifts for children in need and spreading positivity for the holidays. 2 sisters have been chosen for one of the gift-giving projects this year, and members of the club have brought various gifts that were outlined on the girls’ wish lists. A few weeks prior, Operation Christmas Child was in full swing including the packing party.
For the upcoming Christmas season, CHS Key Club had completed Operation Christmas Child in November. Club members were encouraged to pick from 4 age ranges and buy gifts for children in need based on their age and gender. Following the collection of gifts, the “packing party” was held. Members who bought gifts and others stayed after school to help wrap presents and enjoy pizza. Moving closer to Christmas break, Key Club is now asking members to bring in gifts for two sisters who were selected from the Children and Youth services to have their wish lists accounted for by Key Club members. Students have been bringing in various gifts for the girls that align with their lists, and donations will be accepted up until Friday December 15, 2023. No clothes have been brought in yet for the girls, so it is especially suggested for anyone to donate them to the cause. The 5-year-old girl, who is interested in cartoons and movies, has a wish list which includes play food, Play Doh, stuffed animals, pop its, craft kits, books, art supplies, and clothes. The 6-year-old’s list requests baby dolls, games, barbies, clothes, and socks. She is interested in coloring and music. For donations, members are able to earn certain amounts of community service hours.
In the spring, Key Club will participate in Random Acts of Kindness Week. Kindness calendars, posters, and cards will be used and distributed for the week in spreading the cause.
CHS Key Club maintains a drive for spreading positivity as is obvious with the detailed projects and ones that are in store.
